Meet The Doctor

Dr. Shameza Boyd
Dr. Boyd is a native of Birmingham, AL. After graduating from Huffman High School, she went on to attend Xavier University of Louisiana graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She obtained her medical degree at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. She then completed her Pediatric Internship and Residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA.
She served as Chief Resident during her final year. Dr. Boyd began her Pediatric career in Mobile, Alabama working in a community health center in an underserved area where she was eventually named Chief of Pediatrics. She then returned home to Birmingham, AL and worked in a private practice before leaving and founding Small Steps Pediatrics, PC. Dr. Boyd’s vision for Small Steps is to provide quality healthcare for ALL children. Because of her strong belief in reading she is partnering with Reach Out and Read Alabama to provide age appropriate books to her patients at well-child visits.
There is also a “reading corner” set up as part of the waiting area in the office. Dr. Boyd is a board certified Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of several medical societies and organizations including: American Academy of Pediatrics–AL Chapter, MASA, Jefferson County Medical Society, Mineral District Medical Society and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Dr. Boyd is a newlywed and enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Mark Dennis when she is not in the office.
